EARTH DAY

Just recently I had been continuously seeing the commercial from NatGeo Channel that they will be switching off their lights for one hour on the 28th of March. The purpose of this is for the EARTH Day!! Actually, United Nations supported the World Wildlife Fund program aimed on presenting before the Global Climate Change Conference on December of this year 2009 in determining official government policies aimed on overcoming Global Warming. Various business establishment and people on all walks of life will switch off their lights globally for one hour from 8:30 to 9:30 in the evening of March 28 to vote for Mother Earth.

This should also be a practice in business establishments, to turn off any electrical appliances, when not anymore needed. Also for civilians to make sure our appliances are not on the standby mode (except refrigerator, of course) when we are not using them. This is one way to protect our one and only planet because this lessens carbon emission.

As has always been said, we have only one PLANET, we should take care of it because losing it would mean losing our very place to stay surviving.

Have a nice day!

FIRE PREVENTION MONTH

I remember once someone told me that between being robbed and being a victim of fire, she would rather choose to be robbed because if fire catches up her home, she would lose the four foundation of her house, no house to live in, nothing. All her property will turn into ashes. Personally, I would not choose any! However, she raised a strong point, it is very hard when one becomes a victim of fire. In the Philippines, March is the month that focuses on fire prevention. As they said, better be safe than sorry. It is very true, right?

Secretary Angelo T. Reyes urged the need of Bureau of Fire of Protection to be alert to respond on fire incidents. I believe that it should be a two way road. Fire fighters should be vigilant and civilians should also take the necessary precautions to protect our property:

Here are some tips to prevent fire, hopefully this could contribute something:
1) Never leave a lit candle unattended ;
2) Never smoke in bed or in a sofa;
3) Turn off the stove when done cooking
4) Avoid “octopus” outlets; Avoid electrical overload.
5) Keep matches and/or cigarette lighter out of childrens’ reach.
6) Always keep address book near the phone, with updated number of establishments or institutions that you can call in case of emergency.
7) Make sure all electrical outlets are unplug when you will leave your house, this can also save us electric bill.

Tips are few, i suppose, but hopefully you can find which can be beneficial for you.

Have a nice day!

MONEY MATTERS I

Money had seemed to be the unconscious purpose of every ones' effort. Not necessarily the end point of ones' goal but it somehow serves like a middle-person of every transaction. Like how can you eat without paying or the food you eat? or how can you study if you don't have any money to pay your tuition fee? How about shelter, where can you find your shelter if you dont have money to pay for your rent? In fact, the amount of money that you have will determine how humane or how decent your shelter will become. People struggle to find money. I read this book written by Mr. Colayco and i find it very informative. Most working class beats all odds to earn money but seemed that lesser people consider of working as much harder to keep it. Most workers focus on earning money but statistically very few sit down and really think "how can i handle this money to serve my very purpose?" How can i become financially independent with the amount of income that i have TODAY? For an average earner, this is a challenge. This is a challenge for me, too! But then, reading Mr. Colaycos' book made me really think and re-think my spending habits. It is not easy but the book have a thought to share to everyone working. It is not just our willingness to work in order to earn money that matters, it is also our attitude towards spending our hard earned money.
